Saga Select - no, thanks...

Shopping around for car insurance in the last few days, I found the best quote was from Saga. Tried to buy this online, but was instead directed to call a freephone number. Saga could not find details of my online quote, so I had to go through every detail (and more) again, taking 20 mins. They then gave me a quote from some insurer I'd never heard of which was 60 quid higher than the one online. So, I wasn't talking to Saga at all, but "Saga Select", which is an insurance broker. They also tried to sell me every sort of extra cover known to man. I thanked them kindly for wasting my time & declined the quotation.
To be on the safe side, I will just avoid anything with the name "Saga" in it from now on...

My parents were with Saga for one year. The renewal was silly high. But their systems prevent you from getting another quote. System says see your renewal.
But tweaking the name and address slightly showed a much lower premium.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Snap, they suck you in, then sting you badly. Went from £140 to £290 at renewal for car insurance. Churchill were £90 after cashback.0 -
Don't know if they still do it but I enquired about house insurance once. Didn't like the price so didn't buy.
However forever more afterwards I was bombarded with offers, magazines etc. from the saga group and others.
Looking at the small print there is no option to opt out of them using your details for any purpose they feel fit including supplying to 3rd party companies.
Just from a quote!0
