Hi, thanks for reading.

Does anyone know if a bmw Approved used car service inclusive package is worth the money?
car 3 series touring, 13 plate, 10K miles

costs £410 for 2 years/120K miles according to their website.

thanks

As it's a variable service, or more accurately a condition based service. You'll have to consider how many miles you're going to be doing over the next 2 years because if you only actually need a single service during the period then no it probably isn't worth it at that price.

    Hi Thanks,

I wouldnt be doing more than average number of miles per year, I would say, based on previous years, 10-12K a year. Mostly motorway driving and a very small amount in town going to the shops and similar. But mostly going to work and back all motorway apart from a couple of miles at either end.

    Thanks

I would want to have a look to see when the next main service is due before going for the package in that case. If you have access to the car then have a look on the iDrive to see when all the next service items are due or ask the dealer.

I havent seen the car in the flesh so to speak yet, just wondering if it is worth haggling for the service pack on one or going for another that already has it on until march 2018.
virtually same car/age/mileage with a few differences in spec which i am not sure about which i would rather yet.

thanks I will check when i go in this weekend.

A mate has it on his 730ld, his is a 61 plate and just gone past 80k.

He also had it on his previous 730ld on a 59plate.

He likes the fact he can budget easily.

I am signing a similar Jaguar scheme this week.

Basically a service contract over two years and 80k miles for a simple monthly fee.

Also means i don't have to find £1000 all at once to do the cambelt service aswell.

thanks, yes that was what I was thinking was the benefit, being able to know that I wouldn't get any unexpected bills every time I took it for a service until 2018, by which time i would probably look to swap it for another car.

the only difference in the two cars is that the other which doesnt have a service pack included has something called a comfort pack and enhanced bluetooth (both of which i am only vaguely sure what they are).:)

The standard service inclusive pack doesn't cover maintenance items such as brake pads, discs etc and it's not a warranty so you'd still likely get those "unexpected bills".

These are the only items your service pack will cover:

    Oil Services
    Oil top-ups between services
    Vehicle check
    Renew air filter
    Renew micro filter
    Renewal of brake fluid

Diesels would also get the fuel filter renewed, and petrol engine cars would get a set of spark-plugs.

I'm happy with the service pack I bought - except for the dealer's attitude to oil top-ups.

I like to keep the oil level at or near the maximum level, but the dealers will only put in a whole litre or nothing - so that would mean the dip-stick reading would have to be on minimum.

I can't see them doing many top-ups if that's the criteria.

I can understand it to a point of course, as some numpties might be expecting a half-cup's worth of oil every week or so - but I would have thought half a litre to be more reasonable.

Anyhow I do the top-ups myself.

The service inclusive packs on new cars is more generous than that for a an AUC car. Mine was only £250 for 5 years/60,000 miles which, like yourself, I'm more than happy with.
