Amazon MBNA Credit Increase Query

in Credit cards
I have an Amazon Credit Card at the moment which has a relatively low credit limit (£1,700). I've had the card since September 2013.
I ideally want to increase my limit ahead of going on a holiday in October 2015. I don't need the credit to pay for the holiday, I would just like it for emergencies if necessary. It doesn't need to be too high, as it probably won't be used given there are no noteable forex benefits, but it would be nice to have just in case.
I have an option as part of my online account to increase my credit limit, but I was wondering whether it would be best to try and increase now, and then again in September 2015, or to just wait and only try once just before the holiday.
If it helps, my current income is £22k and I currently have total available credit card limits of £4,300 (inc the Amazon card), overdrafts available of £2,400 (plus an additional £1,000 on a joint account), and £1,500 available credit showing from isme who I have an account with, but don't use. I also have an outstanding interest free finance for about £400 which will be paid off April next year.
Will MBNA do a full credit check for an increase in credit limit, and if so - is it worth me closing/reducing my available limits on accounts I don't use to increase my chances of an increase on this card? Or will the increase be based on internal scoring, rendering the above irrelevant?
Any advice welcome!
