New Boiler - Rough Cost?

We currently have a Valient combi boiler which was installed in January 2000. It worked fine until about 4 years ago when it started having problems, intermittent issues where it would not fire up which up to now BG have fixed under the service contract I have with them.
Its started playing up once again and I'm wondering how much it would cost to replace it.
Any idea what sort of price range I'd be looking at? We have a 3 bed semi, 3 radiators downstairs, 3 upstairs and a towel rail in the bathroom. The boiler is wall hung in the kitchen.
Thanks

sounds very like our house. we had a combi put in and it was around £3k but that wasn't a like for like replacement so yours would surely be a fair bit less.0

We recently parted with our Valliant combi after 20 years of service, not surprisingly we again went for the Valliant combi but this time new boiler comes with 7 year warranty. We took a few quotes and settled for the local installer (gas safe registered) . It was not a straight swap as he had to do some work (think flue position was not right for the new boiler) and we paid £2100 all inclusive.0 -
Thanks for your replies.
I'm waiting to hear back from a local Gas Safe guy we use for any jobs and will get a price from him, but I was expecting around the £2000 - £2500 mark from what I've seen online.
I think it was about £3500 when we had it installed in Jan 2000 which included removing the two old systems (boiler for hot water, seperate boiler in dining room for radiators), and installing boiler, all pipework and radiators. If I can opt for like for like I'd probably go for that as our current one meets our requirements, just getting fed up with the ever increasing faults.0 -
When you get the quote. Just google the boiler they quote for. You will see the price. There will be other materials as well, but the boiler is the bulk of the cost.
A straightforward swap is about 1 days work for 2 people.
I would have thought you would be talking something like £1-£1.2k for the boiler and materials and then £600-£800 for the labour depending where you are. So less than £2k.
Be sure to ask about guarantees. E.g. We just had a WB installed. By using an accreddited installer (who wasn't more expensive than the other quotes) and by having a magnetic filter installed, the boiler comes with an 8 yr guarantee.0 -
I have a similar query
As part of an extension/new kitchen I am planning to get rid of the old back boiler and hot water tank and put in a combi boiler
The 2 builders quotes I have received show this part of the job as £3,000 or £4,400, without any detail on type of boiler yet.
Does this seem high ?0 -
removing the back boiler and old tanks is a bigger job than replacing a boiler like-for-like. Price will depend to some extent on where in the country you are, also on things such as whether and by how much pipes need to be moved, where the vent is put in and so on.
I've just replaced my old back boiler with a new combi boiler. It worked out at just under £3,500 including VAT. In my case, they also removed the old airing cupboard, moved some pipework, and installed one new radiator, as well as putting new TRs on the exisiting ones. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
We have a 3 bed semi similar to yours we replaced our boiler this year it cost us £2000 for a Worcester greenstar 30i (I think). This included moving it to a new location. The futures bright the future is Ginger0

That price seems high. Had a very similar job inc upgraded pipe work from meter at the front to boiler at he back, new rad, red outing some pipes, new WB 34CDI and 7yr parts and labour for £2500.0 -
Just paid £1400 to have a greenstar 28i boiler, filter and scale magnet fitted0

Just paid £1600 for a new combi boiler and new thermostats on all the radiators it also has a remote control to change the temperature at which the heating comes on.0
