Hi
My ex (we have been split.for.over 3yrs now).and I had a joint bank account, which had.no overdraft.or.any debt but we both stopped using the account when split.
What letter, and to who, do I need to write to get disassociated from him? His credit is absolutely appalling and I.don't want to be associated with that when mine is eventually.tidied up
Thank.you

The comments and advice I give are what I believe to be correct
My phone likes to use full stops instead of spaces sometimes, I type too quickly and it would take forever to go back and change them all, so please excuse them!

hi just a phone call to the credit ref agencies should do, I done the same thing with Equifax and had no problem over the phone, but the accounts you had together must be closed0

You say you both stopped using the account - has the account actually been closed (or transferred in to just one name?).
If not then you need to do that first.
Have you checked you are definitely showing as financial associates? if the account had no overdraft then you may not be if this account does not appear on your files.
If you are showing as associates then each of the 3 agencies has a form you can complete to file a notice of disassociation - here is a link to experian's - http://experian.metafaq.com/help/Statutory/Credit_report/no_longer_linkedA smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
