A step too far!

I thought the folks here on MSE had cost-cutting down to a fine art. Nay, they are but amateurs. I've just been reading a thread on Mumsnet where somebody actually suggested - "give your children shorter names. You will save money when you are buying name-tapes for school uniforms and if you are buying their names in wooden lettering for bedroom shelves" !

Isn't that ridiculous?! They could just sew in the initials if they were that hard up!

To be fair, that tip works after death, too. Name wreaths charge by the letter.

Just ask my grandmother, Dorothy (or "D", as we suddenly had always called her after we found out).

This would be a good thread for extreme moneysaving tips. Does anyone else shower with a bucket at their feet, and then use the water it catches for a free flush of the toilet? Or is it just my partner and me? :D
Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.

Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.

I know some people who gave all their 5 children names beginning with the same letter of the alphabet. Not sure why they did this, but she only had to buy one set of labels and all their school clothes were labelled the same, (initial surname)
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

So that's where the Kardashians and Duggars got the idea from ;)

No, but when I was teenager our well dried up, I learnt to wash my hair and have a bath in one bucket of water, which was then recycled for the loo. Winter was better - if you fetched your own snow from the field and melted it in the 'copper' you were allowed more water!

Giving children names beginning with the same initial is a pain when the postie comes.
