Cleaning spilled cooking oil from top of fridge?

I place my fryer on top of fridge as I have a tiny kitchen, I last used it 6 months ago and went to check it tonight and clean around it as moving and found loads of spilled oil under it which has made it stick to the fridge, I took it off but what is best way to get rid of the grease? I tried hot water and some scourers but this is only getting the top layer off and not going in deep.

If it's thick, scrape the worst of it off with something like a wallpaper scraper.
Then try cleaning it again with really hot water, and a strong solution of good quality washing up liquid (I swear by Fairy). You might need to use the washing up liquid neat. If that doesn't work, try Stardrops, again with really hot water. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
soften it first with fresh liquid oil, then use hot water and detergent.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

Bit late now but i've got paper (old wallpaper) on top of my Fridgefreezer and kitchen wall units. Whenever you're having a clean, it just means throwing it away and putting new stuff down.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Oven Pride oven cleaner is amazing at cleaning anything like this up.
You only need a small amount on a cloth, rub it over then wipe off. Wash down with hot water.
Just make sure you wear gloves.0 -
Baby wipes usually work well.0
