hi
have a nice carpeted office and came up with idea other week to buy up some plywood pre cut as a square to go under the table of my corner desk, and act as a self made floor mat to protect the carpet and let my big chair go around on its wheels
going to put some nice wooden tiles in the square, stain everything, make it look great - project going very well but now I'm struggling with the lingo
- I can't type " office chair guard stops wheely chairs falling off the edge " into ebay. I don't want laminate floor guards, I'm not doing laminate flooring I'm doing a 62 inch by 62 inch floor mat of hardwood over a carpeted room so that when I move out a more sane buyer can have a carpet again
my question is this - what on earth do you call things that you can screw into the edge, prefereably pre done up, not just some rod of wood, at least cut so I can stain /varnish them etc, that purpose for is - if I go too far back on my chair I get a bump back in (but not dodgem style) - or what works for that that isn't that etc
advice very welcomed!
cheers
Andy

astonishingly positive advice sends a warm feeling down my as yet unbroken spine.........somehow I don't think so.. I'd need serious momentum for that to happenPasturesNew wrote: »... it's got "broken neck" written all over it ....
there's no drop - the thin plywood is very capable of holding the weight and it's screwed in!
thanks anyway !0 -
Are you looking at some kind of architrave or moulding to screw to the edge?If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
Won't one of those plastic carpet protectors just be better? All looks a bit elaborate with plywood and the rest. Also a good chance you're gonna trip up over the edge.0

not really as the corner desk is away in a corner with most of the plywood plate under it, though carpet protector might work also. there's no real elevation there - screwed down into thick pile - just the change in floor to suit a wheel chaired office desk. I think it's going to be great when finished. Thanks for tipWon't one of those plastic carpet protectors just be better? All looks a bit elaborate with plywood and the rest.
