Hi. I am travelling to Watford next month with my 6 year old. I do not have an Oyster card, but I do have a Family & Friend railcard. What is the cheapest way for us to travel into London (from Watford) and then around the sights for the day? Thanks.

The cheapest way is by bus using the Oyster daily fare cap.
You can use as many buses as you like for a maximum of £4.40 per day.0 -
If you don't have an oyster card then it would be a daily off peak travelcard from Watford which would give you unlimited use on all London overground trains, buses and underground within the zones. Children aged 10 and under travel free on all. You can use your friends and family railcard to get a 34% discount on an off peak travelcard.

It depends where in Watford you are travelling from but if from Watford Junction train station it would cost £10.80 for an off peak daily travelcard (zones1-9+Watford Junction) or if from Watford Croxley or Watford Metropolitan stations they are in zone 7 so a zone1-7 off peak Tc card is £8.25 or from Watford High street which is in zone 8 it would be £8.25.

It would be the cheapest way to use only London Transport buses, however there are only two London transport buses that go to Watford Junction 142 and 152 and it is rather a slow way to get into central London. For example 142 bus to Edgware bus station (60 mins) and then bus 113 to Marble Arch (75 mins) so total travel time of 2 hours 15 mins, not including waiting time for buses, whereas the fast train from Watford Junction to Euston takes 20 minutes.

Yeah, I know.
I should have probably said that cheapest may not be best on my first post.
The second Watford bus is the 258 not the 152, BTW.0
