    Just wait till the number of renters exceed number of home owners. The politicians will do whatever they can to reduce the price then. :D

    Until this burns the backside of westminster MPs, they wouldn't act.
    Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

    They might be the same as they were seven years ago, but they are more than they were this time last year .... and, where I live, the year before too.

    My comment referred to the fact I'm just buying a house and don't want the value to go up.

    House prices will keep rising in the same wasy as there'll be "no more boom and bust" i.e. total and utter rubbush. We've been "learning lessons" and saying "never again" since we crawled out of a cave.

    Unfortunately governments not wanting something to happen doesn't always mean it won't. Just a question of when they'll crash, and what will spark it.

    So if you need a house and can afford it, buy one. If prices crash, you can continue to live there comfortable in the knowledge that many buy-to-let scum are suffering more than you. And if they rise, well you're fine and doing a lot better than many others in the country.

    Renters are much less likely to vote than homeowners.

    From my favourite online read, 'Landlord Today';
    Private tenants are less likely to be registered to vote than owner occupiers, says the Electoral Commission.

    Its latest report into voter registration shows that a total of six million voters are currently missing from the register. Only 56% of people living in private rented homes are currently registered, a massive 26% below the national average.

  • Half of renters are 16-34, with the largest proportion in 25-34 bracket. In my experience of people this age have no knowledge or interest in voting or politics. Also many above this age feel their vote makes no difference.

    Also many renters will not be UK nationals.

    So it is not surprising to me there is a low percentage of renters registered to vote.

    More of this demographic will vote, if things get worse socially and economically, or if there is a campaign on social media to awaken them to the exploitation they are being subjected to.

    After a little weak moment last week I know think the tide has turned and prices will stay strong. Nobody can stop house prices rising

    perhaps, especially when its against the interest of those that can change it.
