Your local library may have a load of online resources available for free. My GF passed her theory using them and she rated them as very good.0

Yeh they are well worth it. Maybe look at buying an older version and save a few bob. There are around 1000 questions and only 16 or so are changed each year. Besides most the questions are the same but worded differently.
Also make use of the free trial tests online from the DSA.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
if you have a tablet get the android or ipad apps, on android they are £1.49 each for the theory questions and hazard perception ones.
made by the same company0 -
Son sat his using Android apps and failed.
I took him back after getting him the 2012 Official DSA complete.

He passed.
I took a friend of his the second time. He also used android apps.
He failed.
My son said a lot of the questions he was asked in the test proper weren't asked via the apps. He was regularly passing the phone ones.
When he started on the 2012 discs he went from fails, to sometimes passing, to passing them all.
None of the above excuses the fact that if he had put more effort in he would probably have passed first time.0 -
Some driving instructors will supply a disc for the theory.
Do the official online tests and then forget those questions because they wont come upCensorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

its nothing to do with using apps or books, you shouldn't even need to if you've read and taken in the highway code.
its quite shocking that someone can't pass because they haven't been given the correct answers to learn beforehand, after all its mostly commonsense, a few facts and figures, and some signs0 -

Interesting response considering you never mentioned the highway code in your first post, instead deciding to advocate the use of android/ipad apps.
Bit of a rant TBH, no help to the OP whatsoever.
So what should they use? A. The discs they linked to B. Apps C. The Highway Code Booklet or D. The Official Complete Theory Test Kit.
What do you suppose will equip their son with the most information and knowledge to successfully pass the theory test and Hazard Perception?0 -

I had the AA version which I thought was good but the questions didn't change and neither did the videos - in other words you tested yourself on the same thing every time.
My missus did her test with the one you've linked to (older version) and when we installed it on the PC it was superior to the AA version. Random questions, random videos, yes it did actually expect you to put in some effort!0 -

Spot on.
The theory test is a totally pointless waste of time for many - especially at 17/18 years old. I lose track of how many times a student of mine will pass the theory, then a few days later can't remember anything - even extremely basic things.
Our education system does a wonderful job of teaching people to pass tests rather than think for themselves and retain knowledge. Then we wonder why they display the same skills faced with the driving theory test.
At the begining of 2013 the DSA (now DVSA) stopped publishing the question bank they drew on for the theory. The pass rate immediately fell 10-15% because so many people were just rote learning the answers.
People were much better prepared for the theory of driving under the old system of asking questions about the HC at the end of the test as they had no idea what was going to be asked so had to know the HC reasonably well.0
