Hi all,
I have a question regarding travel insurance for a family/children. When purchasing airline/flight tickets children aged 12 or over are regarded as adults (you have to purchase adult ticket), is it the same when it comes to travel insurance, would i need to count a child aged 12 or over as an adult?
Thanks in advance guys

Insurers generally tend to rate a child as being aged under 18 unless in full time education in which case it's under 21.
It's fairly easy to check how each Insurer defines a child or more helpfully a family. When getting a quote it will normally explain what age a child is or have a help button which explains it. Alternatively if you look at the policy wording near the start it will have a section titled "Definition or words" or "Meaning of Words" if you then look under "family" it will explain what they regard as a family.
Bear in mind the majority of Insurers will only cover the child if their travelling with an adult who is insured by the policy and you've selected family cover.0 -
Check your policy, mine includes children upto 24 if in full time education, 21 otherwise.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
