Poor birdy.

Found a small bird lying in the road.

Managed to rescue it, before it got squashed.

It seems more stunned than injured.

I've currently got it in a small cage, and it seems to be becoming more active.

Just have to wait and see if it's still alive, come morning.

it would help if you knew what type and whether it is a baby.
Needs at least water with it and also correct food. i would suggest putting a cover on the cage as well! hth . if it is coming around now, then it would be wise to let it go before nightfall as it doesn't belong in your cage!

Not sure what species, but definitely not a baby.

I got a bag of wild bird seed from the pet shop.

    It's still stumbling around.

Don't want it to become a victim to predators, while it's still dazed.

if its not a baby an RSPBB online search should be able to identify it.
It may be an an insect / worm eater so bird seed is about as useful as pork crackling at a Barmitzvah! i still say cover the cage and allow it to recover but let it escape before nightfall . Hth

Is it ok ? If so, Google to see if you have a local wildlife rescue.

Some years ago, I took a baby sparrow, which, after several hours under my car, was not going to be claimed by Mum, to our local. They, were quite pleased and said they had a very good success rate with sparrows, as they are quite hardy.

    I'm afraid not.

It was dragging a wing and, on closer inspection, there was blood and an open wound under it wing.

One wing was flapping, but no movement from the injured one.

I think it must've been hit by a car.

    How sad.

Unless they are young, if a bird is easily caught, it's very likely to be ill or injured.
