Can a hotel charge me for their mistake?

If the amount quoted was lower than the total amount charged without your agreement call the police - it's fraud.
Is it also fraud if they charge your card because you stole their towels?
By checking into a hotel you generally agree to pay them what you owe. If the OP did underpay then I hardly see how it could possibly constitute "fraud". The hotel may not have been allowed to take the extra money in that way (it would depend on the contract), but if the OP owes the money anyway (they haven't disputed that they do) then I hardly see what the point of this thread is. Unless they're looking for a way to get out of paying for it...0 -
Thanks for the advice guys. I'm just shocked that they can access card details and charge without letting me know. I'm taking a complaint further with the hotel as they had my phone number, email address and postal address so they could have easily got on touch to advise they were makig the charge.0

From their point of view there is the danger that if they let you know it gives you the opportunity to empty the account so the transaction fails0 -

So you do owe the money. You are just not happy how it was taken.

I'm concerned they can just access my account without my knowledge!! I'd say worrying over my financial information wasn't "nothing"!!0 -

You probably agreed that they could do this when you checked in though.
Let's face it, you thought you'd got away with paying less than you should have. Lesson learned, hotels can still charge after your departure. Next time tell them the bill isn't right before you leave.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

If you owed the money they have done nothing wrong.
Did you owe the money?0
