jewellery valuations needed

Hi all
I hoped someone might know where is reasonable to get insurance valuations of jewellery? my home insurance wants valuations and they are £50 each which is a lot of money...half wish I hadnt bothered!

    I get my local jeweller to value mine and he takes less than £50 to value the whole lot. Mind you he also sold most of it to my husband.

    so do you just go in a local jeweller and they will write you one up?
