London Hotel December

Hi,
We are taking our kids away to DLP for a few days in December. We will be travelling down to London and need to stay over for the night before catching the Eurostar and then the same coming back before getting the train home next day.....
I am kicking myself because I checked the rates at Travelodge when we first started looking for the nights we wanted and it was £29 a room but I didn't book in case we didn't end up going on them dates....now the same hotel and room is £68.
Does anybody know if they do a "sale" that includes the London hotels as I don't want to book at the £68 if I could maybe get it cheaper....Or can anyone recommend a cheaper hotel? Or am I pushing my luck, is £68 cheap enough for London in December?
Thanks in advance

Last year there was a Travelodge sale in July 2013 for December 2013 dates, but it really depends on how bookings have been going as to whether there will be any London hotels available if they ahve a sale. If your stay involves a Friday or Saturday night then it is less likely that you will get a cheap room and earlier in December tends to be more popular than a couple of days before Christmas. Premier Inn has hotel rooms in Kings Cross and the St Pancras hotels for a similar price on some dates in December.0
