Anyone else had a problem with a Cap1 card at Asda petrol today ? Used the card in store without problem then tried to use pay-at-pump but it just sat at "Cap1 Mastercard - checking card". Tried in another pump but the same so went across to a pay at kiosk pump and filled up but the same message came up on their terminal. Other customers using the pumps / kiosk without problem. :(

Yes, I've not been able to use my Capital One Mastercard at the PayatPump at Asda since October 2013.
The screen gets stuck on "Checking Card".
    It works OK instore.

My local Asda is PayAtPump only, so I now use Tesco to fillup (to get the 1% cashback on the Capital One card)

I had a few weeks of email exchanges with Asda, going into store, etc, but they couldn't get to the bottom of it. My card doesn't have any restrictions on it (confirmed by Capital One), and it's in perfect condition.

I think I may have mis-typed my PIN on one occassion and it never worked after that!

The last time I used that card at Asda petrol was Oct 13 and Asda pay at pump was Sep 13 but have used it a few times in Tesco, both pay at pump and kiosk, since. I normally use my Luma (Cap1) for the 4% and have not had problems but have used up my £225 this month and needed a top up. The surprise was that the kiosk had the same message. I will make sure MrsM has her card when we go out tomorrow just in case it is the card that has gone duff.

I have Luma Card that is issued by Capital One. I use it regularly at various Asda pay-at-pump terminals around the country. Never had an issue except...

... the card is only accepted once per day at any Asda pay-at-pump. (same restrictions apply with other supermarket pay-at-pump terminals, but I think it works across supermarkets so you can buy fuel from say Tesco & Asda on the same day) Maybe the other Asda transaction was the cause of your issue? But usually in-store purchases do not affect acceptance at pay-at-pump terminals. (and likewise pay-at-pump does not prevent in-store or kiosk fuel sale where available)

When the card is refused as it has been used previously, I get a message saying card declined or something similar. If it stays as checking, sounds more like a problem the terminal verifying your card.

Edit: just seen you also have no problems with Luma, so it's not an Asda or Cap1 general issue, just an issue related to your card.

I've noticed handwritten signs on all of the pumps at my local Asda in Tilbury, Essex saying 'No Capital One Cards - Sorry' since last week (18th July when I first noticed them)

I have 2 Capital One cards, a Visa and a Mastercard and the last time I was able to use one was around the 30th June and it worked ok but I have not tried one since seeing the signs up last week.

Not sure what's going on, I don't use them much these days, they got me out of a predicament a few years ago and rarely use them now.

OH used a Luma card, issued by Capital One, at an Asda petrol pump on Friday 18.07 with no problems.

Used it today with no problems so they have obviously fixed the glitch.

I agree, the glitch has been fixed...

Used my card no problems today, the same card that hasn't been working at Asda Pay-at-pump since last October.

Just had the problem in Tesco, the pump (2 actually) locked up the same as it did in Asda. The attendant said he has had a couple do it this morning.
