Honeywell Carbon Monoxide alarm reminder

I had a call just now from the firm that makes Honeywell Carbon Monoxide alarms, reminding me of the need to purchase another one as she said the one I've got will run out in January 2015. When I said that I had therefore another 6 months, she told me they added 6 months in case it sat in the back of a van for a few months.
She said it is discounted by a few pounds but it will go up in a couple of weeks to the normal price.
I realise that this could be a sales pitch of course, to make me buy one earlier, but she said mine could start beeping over the next 3-4 weeks and they were ringing customers who'd bought one with my date on to let them know.
I know I could buy a cheaper Carbon Monoxide alarm, but I've been pleased with this one, also British Gas said they would only pass my boiler (which is 32 years old) if I had a good quality alarm.
I wondered if anyone else had one of these alarms and had received a call or could advise please? I don't fancy wondering if I'm going to be woken up over the next 3-4 weeks with the loud worrying beep of the alarm!
TIA :-)

They are pretty cheap on Amazon (£18.81) - personally I would just get a new one and not take the risk
