My flat has Economy 7 electricity.

My water heater uses Economy 7 but also has a booster override.

2 years ago the Economy 7 stopped turning on, so the water and heaters could not heat up.

My electricity company changed my electricity meter and it worked for a couple of years.

Now it has happened again and I am back to square one with it not turning on automatically, even though the economy 7 switch is on.

Does anybody have any ideas of what could be the problem or how i can get it fixed?

Is it the wire connecting the meter to my hot water tank? Or the meter?

Is that the responsibility of the Landlord as I live in a small block of flats?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Get a voltage tester.


There are only so many cables, fuses and switches between the meter and the appliance. Follow the yellow brick road.


If you don't trust yourself not to kill yourself, use a relative who is expendable.
