My wife has decided to rent out the flat she owns in Scotland (It is a bought Housing association flat) so she already pays buildings insurance through the housing association but as she is leaving the fridge, washing maching and cooker I believe she would need contents cover for those as well as the carpets and boiler.
Best way forward?

Best way forward? Ask the Housing Association first if she is allowed to rent out the flat in the first place. I believe that they sometimes have strong objections to it.
That sorted, she needs Landlord's Insurance, not your normal, run of the mill buildings insurance. LL Insurance covers for more than just the fabric of the building and the few contents. You had me at your proper use of "you're".0 -
Cheers already checked with Housing Association so all that is sorted no bother re the rental of the flat.
Do you know if you can get LL Insurance that will just cover the basics as obviously cost is the key issue.

Hardly worth it for the fridge and washing machine. It blurs the line on furnished/unfurnished, most tenants have their own so need to put them somewhere, and you need to get them pat tested. If they break down you also have to get them repaired asp, and you're responsible for the food they lose with the fridge. Cooker is a fixed appliance, so that's expected though.0
