Potential for ccj against me ??

Long story short, I run a website and recently had a customer who bought a product, weeks later decided it was damaged and against our terms and conditions has now issued us with a small claims to get his money back (actually asked for more then double what item is worth). We think we had enough just cause not to issue refund so have challenged this. I am a little concerned that in the claim it mentions that if judgement goes against me i could end up with a CCJ against me that would effect my ability to get credit. Is this correct even though all i have done is challenged someone who i feel is totally in the wrong ?

If the judgement goes against you then providing you pay the judgement in full within a month it won't be recorded on your credit files or the registry trust. (You will need to provide evidence of the payment to the court or obtain a certificate of satisfaction)
If you cannot or do not pay in full within a month then the CCJ will be recorded against you and will be visible to anyone searching your credit file, or anyone running a public search on judgements against you for 6years.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thank you
Paying isn't a problem its just the principle of the whole situation and having us thinking that if we dare to challenge we could get a CCJ0 -
So long as your T&C are legal, you're under no obligation to refund the customer regardless of if a customer is unhappy. I'd challenge it.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

If you fail to defend your corner then you could be in receipt of a CCJ by default.0 -
So are you saying if i opt to defend and lose but then pay whatever is requested i could still end up with a CCJ ? doesn't seem fair ?0
