Repairs
Options
Hi, I am new here so I apologise if this has already been dsicussed.
I need to pay for repairs to my car, and I thought I read that it is better to pay for such things by credit card rather than debit card, as you have some kind of insurance through the credit card, so that if something that has been repaired, goes wrong again, you have some comeback - does anyone know if this is correct?
Thank you.

Read up on section 75 of the consumer credit act.
Its not an insurance policy it makes the cc company equally liable for the performance of the contract0 -
Best car maintenance and repair policy is to find good repairers and workshops first, preferably by recommendation, and develop long term relationships with them.0

As above your better off finding a mechanic or garage that you can trust rather than argue between the CC company and the garage that he said/she said.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Thanks Guys. We are newish to the area so don't have time to build up a relationship with the garage.
I am not saying they will rip me off, I was just wondering if it was better to pay with a credit card rather than a debit card.
But thank you for your replies.0 -
I was told that is that is worth using a credit card if the bill is over £100, not sure of the basis for this?
Anything that could be of benefit to you if the worst happens is worth using, I guess?0 -
The basis of the "extra cover" is that it is because you are using credit, the credit provider is jointly liable for whatever is paid for over £100 (and under £30,000!).
You may have to pay a credit card surcharge though most places don't do this.
Regardless, you have consumer legislation on your side and any decent garage would rectify work genuinely done poorly.0
