How do I start legal proceedings?

Do I just go to moneyclaim.gov.uk and file a claim there, do I not have to get a lawyer or anything?

No you don't need a solicitor or such like. Yes just go to MCOL website as you said it's very simple, it's step by step on there and any questions pop back here and ask someone'll always answer :)

You can also go to your local court and start the claim manually there. You can get on hand advice about the procedure including any regarding costs and possible exemption/relief as well as all the forms you will need to fill in. :)

Ok is it the County Court I need to go to?

EDIT: Actually would it be better to get a "no win no fee" lot to do all the work or is it not really worth it?

For info an how to fill the form in, go to the Reclaim Bank Charges Help Thread.

And no, you most definitely do NOT need a lawyer or any of those companies who promise to get the money back for you. Actually, avoid them at all costs!
