Santander 123 now with no FX fee for Select customers.

Just a heads up. I received an email today from Santander to say that there are no longer any FX fees on the 123 credit card for "Select" customers. It also said that there would also be 1% cashback for flights and hotels during June and July.

("Select" is the name they give to customers who have at least £xxxx going through their account every month - I can't remember the exact figure, but I know my salary doesn't cover it, but combined with the work expenses I reclaim I meet the limit)

I got the extra 1% offer on flights, hotels & holidays but no mention of a change to FX fees

Different tiers of the offer maybe

I think Santander Select is an elite, invite only, account. :rotfl:

I received the same email as you.

Initially I was a bit miffed because I booked a trip to the Philippines a few hours before.

Then I realised it was for credit card transactions only. The 1% saving would probably have been wiped out by the credit card surcharge. And, as my flight is costing less than £540, the saving would have been tiny anyway.

I always view as the credit card surcharge as a small price to pay for the S75 protection should the airline fail.

I realise chargeback is available for debit cards but the return flights are often many times the cost of the originals.

Cashback sites (e.g Quidco) often more or less cancel out the CC surcharge anyway.
