Thanks to all who have been helpful. To the hot-headed responses; she is listed on her current and previous address, hence the need to get the guy at the previous address to register himself, to remove my sister. Think before typing!0

She needs to write to the Council and tell them she left on which date and where she is currently registered.
Bear in mind that a number of people who live in the UK are not entitled to vote, so cannot add their own names to the register. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

Did someone at the council tell her that's what should happen? There's certainly no need for a new resident to register in order for a previous one to be removed from the register. And the council have a duty to maintain an accurate register - I can't see what reason they would have to refuse her request to have her details amended.0 -

Not had a form ...... wouldn't have filled it in anyway as I've had no sense of "staying/settled" at all.
Will be registering when I buy.
This form comes about Sept/Oct. Just need to put a line through those that don't live in the property and add additional names (if any) and pop back into the post. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
you can't remove somebody else unless it's on the yearly form. you need to remove yourself by writing to the council - yes, you can wait until the yearly form goes out but you're relying on a new occupant to cross your name out. it isn't anybody elses responsibility to add/remove someone from the register. i used to work in the electoral services office and my local council and believe me, there are a lot of forms returned with a number of names on because people don't read the forms and cross out the people no longer there. by all means wait and hope the new occupant removes you, but in my mind it isn't worth the risk with it being associated with credit.0

i tried to get a credit card a couple of months ago but because i'd been at my job less than a year and had only rented my property for a year and a half, they wouldn't accept me. nothing to do with my credit history, it was more just how secure i was financially with renting and a new-ish job. information gets sent to the creit agencys monthly - not every 7 months so maybe you should double check this. but even if you are on the electoral roll, i can't imagine this improving your credit rating by that much. there must be a reason your rating is 647 - so may be worth double checking the details and making sure everything is right. if you haven't been registered on the electoral roll at previous addresses etc this will have an effect.0
