Advice with letter from Eon (tarrif is ending)
Hi, i am currently an Eon customer, when we first moved into our apartment out electric / gas bill per month was around £80, we phoned and had a moan at them and they put it down to £59, then shortly after sent a letter saying they were putting it back up to £80.
Anyway, regardless of that, a year on and we have now had this letter stating that out tariff is ending and that we need to choose a new one or get put on their variable tariff automatically.
The only issue is there only seems to be 2 options to choose from, either the variable tariff which says its more expensive, or it recommends their Eon energy fixed 1 year v6 and says its a little bit cheaper, our current fixed tariff is the same but v4.
So i am just wondering if people had anything advice on this, am i best just option for the v6 fixed tariff, or would switching to a different supplier altogether probably be better?
Thanks
James

Why not use a comparison site? The new tariffs available from Eon will be listed there and you can see how they compare with others.
Take your annual consumptions in kWh and postcode to a comparison site. You should also look at the gas-only and electricity-only options on the results tab - if you have an away-from-average usage they can be cheaper.
As to whether a short fix or long fix is better - that is your call.
Make sure you read your meter now and compare it with your recent statement so that you have an idea of what the balance on your account is.0 -
Morning James
Just thought I'd let you know, unless you're aged 60 or over, we've only three tariffs available once your current agreement ends.
There's the variable standard tariff and two fixed products. A 1 year and a 2 year fix.
As Nada says, pop your usage in kWh on to the comparison sites. This will list all your options, both with us and with the other suppliers.
If you decide to change supplier, make sure you time the switch to complete after the tariff you're on at the moment ends. This way, you'll avoid the cancellation fee.
Also, with your current tariff, your prices are protected for 20 working days after the contract ends. If you tell us you're leaving within this time, we'll keep your prices the same until the leaving date. There'll be more details about this in your renewal letter.
Hope this is useful James. Let me know if you need any more details as happy to help.
