You just have to walk up and down the frozen vegetable section of a supermarket to see what you can freeze. But like someone mentioned earlier...think for a single person it's also easier to buy frozen veg, and then take how much you need and put pack back in freezer again.

I also freeze carrots, bell peppers, chillis, onions, parsnips, garlic, ginger, fresh herbs...dill, coriander, mint, chives, parsely, basil, broccoli, tomatoes (for later use in soups, casseroles, curries) my list is endless.

Working full time, so tend to cook alot of home made dishes to freeze over the weekend. Defrost and heat and eat after a long commute home during the week:). Makes my life easier!!

:) the bit where you said you can freeze it, but afterwards it's no good. Which to me says you CAN'T freeze it because freezing it, ruins it! Or is that wrong? You're contradicting yourself, surely?

It's not that the food is bad after it's been frozen but the quality isn't the same. You can freeze strawberries but they aren't like fresh ones when they are defrosted so you would put them in a smoothy or a cake/pudding.

Strawberries are the perfect example. People say it's fine to freeze strawberries. But to me, what you take out of the freezer is definitely NOT the same as the thing you put in the freezer. Frozen, and then defrosted strawberries are disgusting.

So I do not agree with people who say you can freeze strawberries.

It might not be worth doing but that doesn't change the fact that it is possible to freeze them.:)

Which means you can actually freeze it, what happens afterwards is irrelevant.

No, it says "it isn't worth freezing it because freezing ruins it". You can still freeze it if you want too, or if you just want to juice it when thawed.

Yes it is wrong. I think the problem is you are young and think you can't do something unless it says you can on the internet. Older people know that they can do what they want with their own veg and freezer and don't need the internet to tell them what to do.

Nope, if you have a vegetable and a freezer there is nothing stopping you putting the veg in the freezer, and as I said before, what happens next is irrelevant.

Yes, freezing strawberries seems to do something very vile to them - they taste a bit fishy when defrosted. Melon is the same.

I agree they are not the same, but you can still do things with them like make juice, jam etc.

But you have just indicated above that you have seen strawberries frozen and then defrost. So how can you say you can't do it when you have seen it done?

Don't be fooled by the few people who think that only a fresh vegetable is a good vegetable... they're wrong.

Couldn't agree more. In answer to your question, yes you can freeze your own veg. We have an alloment so we freeze a lot of veg and fruit.
