hi,
last year I bought a years supply of drontal plus tablets (4) and advocate flea treatment ampuoles (12) for £135 from my vets, a special offer.
have looked online and can get the 4 drontals for £6.80 and the 12 advocate for £48 but need a prescription from my vet.
how much are the prescriptions please?
am thinking I could save a bit off last years price.
does anyone else buy this sort of thing online?
thank you, from me and my cheeky JRT

My vet charges £7.20 per prescription per pet but it will vary between practices. Just ring up and ask.It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Mine is £13, £15 or £19 depending on whether it is with a consult, single script only or repeat script. My girls 180ml of metacam works out at around £30 a time including script cost. At the vets 100ml sells for £50ish so I'm much better off with prescriptions0

will pop into vets tomorrow, cheersLIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
RCVS rules say vets can charge a "reasonable" prescription fee - but do not specify a maximum.
Mine used to charge £6 which was very fair. It jumped to £12 - presumably with the increase in people requesting them. I still think it's worth getting, as I save more than £12 by ordering the flea medication online, and for that £12 you get a quick consult to check the dog is healthy enough for a prescription (if it hasn't been seen recently by a vet anyway)0 -
I buy all my pet supplies from http://www.vetuk.co.uk/ drontle and i buy effipro for flee treatment far cheaper than my own vet they charges me £8 each for the effipro and i can buy it fron vetsuk for £11.65 for 4 pipettes, the drontal are £1.70 each.0

If you usually use Drontal Plus then Cestem is a cheaper alternative (same chemical) but made by Ceva. Currently buy 3 get 1 free from Vet Medic- offer may be available from other online pharmacies.
Starting price (today) is £4.80 for 4 (that includes the free one) and they work out cheaper if you buy in quantity.
and no scrip needed for these.....Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I'm another Animeds fan.
My vet charged £7.50, until a few months ago, when they phoned round to see what others were charging and increased to £13 for repeats and even more for a one off or first.
I mentioned, to the head vet nurse that a fairly new local practice still only charges £7.50 and she said she would mention this to the partners , but I'm not holding my breath for reductions.( It's not worth my changing practice, as though the other is generally cheaper for scripts, vaccinations and consultation, they don't do a Wednesday 20% off for pensioners.)0
