£850k . For a 2 bed flat in Balham. Now that is proof that the market in London has gone mad. Even with all of the obvious upward pressures on London prices, I don't how anyone can think that buying that property at that price makes sense.
It's because it's so close to Clapham, people seem to love Clapham and will pay crazy amounts to live there! It's a nice enough area with lots going on but I wouldnt want to live too close to the high street on Saturday night!!! I'd much rather live closer to the Tooting side of Balham!
That being said we kind of fell into East London round Forest Hill, Sydenham way and we love it! If I could afford to buy I would be looking along the overground line this way.0 -

It's strange, how people end up with such differing views of the various parts of London. I live in Canary Wharf, and would not dream of moving to Kensington, even if it were half the price of Docklands, instead of something like double.
I don't know if it's just because I happened upon Docklands when I moved here in the 90s, or if it matches what I like.0
