Help with broken kitchen tap

I have a kitchen mixer tap that looks a bit like this but older fashioned with plastic tap handles http://www.snhtradecentre.co.uk/plumbing-bathrooms/deva-profile-dcm105.html?gclid=CKvB6u6t274CFSXnwgod0woAIA
the cold tap has stopped working with very little/ no water coming out. This has happened about 6 times in the last year, each time we've changed the washer and that has fixed it for a while. (It seems to be when the hot water from the combi boiler gets really hot that the problem starts).
Is changing the washer and turning down the temp of the domestic hot water system likely to help? Or should I try having the whole tap unit replaced?
any advise will be greatly appreciated

Time for a new tap - they're cheap enough. Handy enough to do it yourself? Would take a plumber all of 10/15 minutes.0

Would take 10-15 mins aslong as there was isolation valves on the pipework, if not will take a fair bit longer.0

New tap time!Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
