In a real mess and think in about doing a DMP

Thank you again for being so helpful. I must admit I started to tear up a little earlier. I think it is just the kind of relief that I'm doing something about this and so might eventually have an end to it all.
I spoke to SC. The guy was great.
There is only one thing holding me back, and that is an annual subscription form I fill out at work each year answering "no" to the question "have you ever been in a DMP or other agreement with your creditors?"
But do you know what? I can't take this going on and on with the sleepless nights and stress, so what's the worst that could happen??~~I am debt free~~0 -

Before you sign up with SC I would recommend that you check with your HR Department (if you have one) if their are any negative consequences with starting a DMP , ie are you likely to lose your job ?
I suggest this because if you tick box marked "no" the next time round you are lying to your employer and this *may* lead to negative consequences for you.
In my case I am a long established Civil Servant who told my manager(s) that I was in a long term DMP and they had no problem.
I had also checked the Staff Handbook which stated that I only HAD to tell my employer if I was bankrupt (which didnt happen).
I would check your handbook before you sign the DMP paperwork.0 -

I take it you must work for a bank or other financial institution then, I don't think you can be sacked for entering a DMP can you ? I wouldn't worry about that too much, if it concerns you speak to stepchange about it, im sure they will be able to advise.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I worked for a financial institution whilst in a DMP and they were fine. My ex OH worked for the same firm and went BR but because neither of us were advisors or dealing with money and just admin staff...there wasn't a problem.
We were both open and honest with our employers and as we had both worked there for some time, they were fine with us.
I do suggest that you check with your HR department and check the handbook also.
Good luck.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

I would point out to them that starting a DMP is a positive act by you, because you are taking responsibility for your debts AND dealing with them.
I hope it all works out (positively) for you.0 -
