Decent eye protection & dust mask combo?

Am after a recommendation here.
This weekend i was taking off the plaster in the living room & it kicked up some dust. I was wearing a dust mask & safety glasses but the glasses would steam up if i wore the mask. Basically i couldn't wear them together, only separate. So i'd get stuff in my eye but be breathing ok & then my eyes would be fine but my throat was going sore from breathing in the dust.
I brought in some different goggles from home, which had a bigger gap at the sides so i figured more air to the lense = better sight. Nope, didn't work.
I need it for doing sanding work too.
Anyone recommend anything that works as a dust mask but also eye protection that lets you still see?

There are lots of full face masks on the market. I got a drager full face mask from screwfix for £100. It works quite well but I tend to hyperventilate most of the time due to illness and it feels like I am breathing through my !!! at times. If your okay with proper dust masks, rather than the paper rubbish, then you should not have too many problems. I do also have a drager half face mask, purchased previously with separate goggles to save money on the full face mask and it was unusable when goggles were being used due to steaming up. A full face mask is designed to get around that problem.
I thought it worth £100 because I too have a fair bit of dusty work to do including removing plaster and working in the loft with insulation. I thought that Mm lungs were worth the expense, especially with the saving on employing someone else to do the jobs.
Note that you will require filters specific to the task, ie dust filters rather than gas filters.
I stayed with drager because I had filters which work with both masks.0 -
This is my combination and I have no problems with it...

Stooby - thanks. Problem with those specs is i have a set similar & dust was still getting in there & into my eyes.
I was thinking a full face mask but damn them things can be expensive.
A penny saved - i had a look at what you suggested & i agree about what you said regards the lungs etc but i can't help but feel it's kinda like getting a sledgehammer to get into a pistachio. That mask you mentioned is very dear & i'll only be doing the plaster work with it. I know how it'll be there for future jobs, but i'm really no DIYer at all so my future jobs will be minimal.
Is there no way of avoiding it - are the full face decent masks just very dear & that's the way it is?0 -

"Bit late now Google JSP Filter spec Pro - they are a combined filter and safety goggle in one combo cost around 20 quid". Do these have replaceable filters? :-) Or do you have to throw the specs/mask away when the filter's blocked? Thanks:)No longer trainee

And you'll be meaning http://www.jsp.co.uk/products/Eye-Face-Protection/FilterSpec/AGE130-201-100_FilterSpec-Pro-Black-with-FMP3-Valve-Filter? Can you confirm that the goggles DON'T steam up?
If so then sounds like a winner.0 -
They haven't steamed up in the past when I have used themYou may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

If the goggles are steaming up your breath is escaping where the mask fits around your nose. Try reshaping the mask or stronger elastic. Knotting or shortening the elastic may help.0
