Thankyou to everyone for your kind comments.
It is much easier said than done, but by sitting down and working out my incomings and outgoings it was easier to see the light.
I quickly got rid of the things I didn't need such as Sky and nights out and started paying that little bit extra.
Contact the credit cards directly to try and work out a compromise.
Don't go to the Debt Management companies, but do use them if that is your only way out.
Everyone's case is different so good luck to all.
And littleskintdragon,

Wow Good on you!whipster221073 wrote: »Hi to all,
As much as people don't know me, or my story, I felt it appropriate to post this on here today.
6 years ago I was in debt. I knew it, I think my partner knew it and my parents certainly knew something was wrong.
Did I tell them? Did I beck.
I was scared, frightened of what they might say, ashamed that their offspring could get themselves in that trouble when they had a good upbringing and good job.
The problem was I was keeping up with the Jones so to speak, or friends in my case.
They had nice holidays, I had to have the same.
Etc Etc
Well, 2 years later and I was in over my head.
I was in debt that I couldn't pay and it was time for admissions.
If I had done it 2 years earlier it would have been easier. It wasn't, I was an idiot.
So, you may ask, why post tonight.
Well, after the past 6 years of pain, denial, admission and lots and lots of tears, tomorrow I am debt free. I owe nobody nothing. Zilch. Nada.
And you know what it feels absolutely fantastic.
I was one of those who came on this website, looked at the posts and thought, no, not me, I'm fine. Well, I wasn't.
So, for anybody out there who is in the same position as I was six years ago I would just like to give this piece of advice.
Talk.
Talk to your partner
Talk to your family
Talk to your friends if you need to
Most importantly talk to people who can help.
Don't be too proud to ask for help.
I was and it nearly destroyed me.
Yes, I still have a default with a year to run, but so what that will soon be sorted and then it's a case of never letting this happen again.
I told my friends. I had to.
They had better jobs than me and earnt more money.
Some of them laughed, they're no longer classed as friends.
2 really important people listened and helped, and you know what changed their lifestyles too.
So, tomorrow is celebration night.
No, not a fancy restaurant or pub.
They are coming to my house, exactly as we have done for the last 2 years.
If you are still reading, then thankyou.
And if just 1 person reads this and it makes a difference then it was worth it.
Good luck to all.
Very inspiring read, Thank you!:TNeed to get rid of my Yankee Candle Habit, Not very money saving of me

Thank you Whipster for your inspiring post.
I had my LBM in February. After 7 years of having to pay for a property we couldn't afford, but couldn't sell due to negative equity, nor coud live in, as bought as an investment in the good times, I had been putting normal expenses on credit just to survive.
Other half knew things were difficult, but I was moving debt from pillar to post, and then got to the point where we were in so deep I was too scared to tell him....I shouldn't have been as he was fantastic, but it took me nearing a nervous breakdown before I swallowed my pride!
We have a long journey ahead, but together we will get there! Close family know, and have taken off the pressure with some interest free loans, and a couple of very close friends know, but not to what extent we're in debt....but their support is invaluable, and they understand totally that we don't have spare cash.
But, the fact that you have got to the point of being debt free is inspiring, and is proof that it can be done.
Thank you for sharing, and HUGE congratualtions...enjoy! :beer:A Payment A Day keeps the debts at bay
