do i need consent to divorce after 13 years apart?

Hi,
My wife and I split up over 13 years ago, the marital home was sold a few years later and our children are now in their twenties.
We have no financial ties.
Can I get a divorce without her consent and can it be done quickly considering how long we have lived apart?
I'm assuming I can do this without a solicitor as I'm hoping it will be a simple process?
I would appreciate any advice.
Thank you

You certainly can do the divorce yourself, many people do (I did!). There is loads of information on the process over on the Wikivorce website.
Despite having no financial ties, I would recommend that you do go through formal Financial Proceedings and finalise a Consent Order if your Ex is around to sign it. Otherwise you leave yourself open financially to claims in the future of things you haven't considered (pension, inheritance).
Do you know where your Ex is? For a divorce based on 5 years separation (without consent), you are still expected to try to get in contact to send them the documentation.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Thanks for the website information....I will check it out.
Yeah, unfortunately I know where she is
I hope she doesn't come after my pension after all this time! I would be gutted....surely she can't after 13 years?

Depends on things like how long you were together (before as well as during marriage), how much you contributed to your pension during that time, whether she had similar opporunity to save into a pension (eg. she could have been stay-at-home Mum with no income while you were earning). But that's exactly why you need to get these things tied up in a 'clean-break' order.
Wing yourself over to the good folk on that website, they'll see you right :A:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
