Do you mean apps or tabs in a browser ?

If apps, then if the app is on the screen, try tapping twice on the back button at bottom of screen, that should close the app.

If you are then looking at the apps you have used, using the right hand icon on bottom of screen then swipe the picture of the app you want to remove downwards, that will remove it from that screen.

On my chrome there is an X on each of the tabs, on the right hand side, faded grey in colour, just tap on it to close the tab.

What areostar said, although personally I believe your Hudl reads the Grauniad and has developed a vendetta against you for your political views :rotfl:

If it's like the mobile version of Chrome, you swipe the tabs away, a bit like shuffling a pack of cards.

Using Firefox on my desk top ( will admit I have never used a laptop)
and thus every time I start Firefox , I start with all tabs closed.
Chrome on tablet has dozens open, is there a setting for chrome to close tabs when I have stopped with the browser?

Ps would take me ages to close each one manually

PPS quote I believe your Hudl reads the Grauniad could be, it certainly can't spell
