  • From my personal experience I believe it has settled my gut. I've had some nasty IBS symptoms for past couple of years. I tracked down a (the?) cause and have hopefully addressed that, but it left my gut quite fragile. Symprove seems to be helping me recover. That said, it might be my adjusted diet that is also helping me recover - but I feel reasonably confident Symprove is a part of that solution. Perhaps it's the placebo effect of watching their science-marketing ;) Not cheap though and the "original" flavour is a little special ... but I'd say to anyone struggling with fixing gut issues - to give a few bottles a go. If you're feeling fine, probably not worth it.
  • Has anyone else tried this? I'm thinking of giving it a go but it's quite pricey... been having digestive problems for a few months now.

Someone recently suggested this to me- she said it was a big help to her and had suggested I try. I've not looked tbh as I'm so strapped for cash atm but have made a mental note. Just wanted to get back to you to say that I know of someone whom this worked well for although can't say so myself as I've not tried it.

This is the nearest thing to 'published research' they are prepared to put on their website!

    http://www.symprovebioscience.com/uploads/King's_College_slides_for_IBS_Study.pdf

Lots of nice graphics, and key points - but no original study.

All the positives are in respect of 'patient perception' - nothing objective that can actually be measured. And curiously - no evidence anywhere that these 'healthy bacteria' do actually survive the stomach.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

    According to this study:

Symprove is the only probiotic in the market that passed the test of surviving in the stomach, that's how i found it and the only reason I'm considering it..
  • I am currently on week 6 of a 12 week course. It was recommended to me by a dietician following a private consultant for SIBO (small intestinal bowel overgrowth). Two year's of antibiotics from the hospital did nothing to help but already I'm feeling so much better. Gets a definite thumbs up from me. Only downside is the taste!!!

    There is this one....

    http://www.elixa-probiotic.com/uk/

I took it for 12 days! Whether it changed anything in my microbiome, who knows, as I haven't undergone any testing of any sort! But from all my research, this one has more active good bacteria:-

"As you've already learned, the average probiotic is outmatched by a ratio of 1 : 10,000 when compared to the total number of microorganisms residing in our gut. That's a drop in the ocean! And if you want more than a drop - Elixa is your answer. With a strength of half a trillion CFUs (that's 500 Billion!), this is an entire probiotic army."

and a delivery system that keeps them alive till they reach their rightful destination, i.e. they survive the stomach!

  • Oh, and here are some other people trying/testing Elixa....

  • And I absolutely think it comes hand in hand with the low-FODMAP diet if you have severe IBS. With the two combined I've gone from worst case scenario to the best I've ever felt. In fact, I felt so much better within week 3 that I wrote a little (ok quite big) review if you fancy a read! Just google 'The Beautiful Mouth'

I went to visit them down in Surrey to say thanks and we made friends. I'm now allowed to give out the same discounts that dieticians give upon their diagnosis. So if anyone wants to give it a go and wants to save 25% on their first box, I can give you my 'friends discount'. Just drop me a message through the blog and I'll put you in touch with Symprove :)

Hope it's working for some of you!
