Wrong cashpoint machine

in Credit cards
I withdrew £50 from the hole in the wall but didn't notice it was not the correct hole for Nationwide customers.
My next credit card statement showed a £2 charge for the benefit of using the wrong machine plus 18p interest.
This months credit card statement shows another 38p interest, even though the full amount was taken by direct debit three weeks ago.
I wont make that mistake again.

No - using a debit card in the wrong machine incurs a one-off fee, not interest.0

Using a debit card in the machine should not charge a fee at all!! Some cash machines (even link ones) charge you a fee for using the machine.ThankYouAndEnjoy! wrote: »Using a debit card in the machine should not charge a fee at all!! (assuming is a link, its harder not to find a link machine than find 1)0 -
You will ALWAYS get charged a withdrawal fee of 2% or £2 whichever is greater plus get charged interest at teh cash advance rate from the day you withdraw money from a ATM. This is more or less standard for all credit cards. May I suggest that in future you save up and live in advance rather then arrears. Debit cards dont recieve any charge unless its using a for-profit ATM.0

"ALWAYS"? I don't think so. Egg Money, especially when in credit, for example. You will ALWAYS get charged a withdrawal fee of 2% or £2 whichever is greater plus get charged interest at teh cash advance rate from the day you withdraw money from a ATM.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
I meant always with the type of credit card he has :P

You will always get charged for getting cash out on a credit card, plus interest!
This simple error need never have happen You can opt for Chip & Signature ( A PIN free card). That is unless you specifically want to use a CREDIT card for cash withdrawals.
Other benefits are:
If you did get your card pinched, and someone used it with your PIN before you noticed or reported the loss then you can almost guarantee your card issuer will ask, "how did they get your PIN" Dont put yourself in this postion, reduce the risk to yourself.
No PIN means you will ever be targetted for your PIN. Armed with a PIN and card(s), stolen or cloned then crooks have access to hard dosh. ATMs don't challenge users.
Choice is yours.
oldbuffer - I bet you use the same PIN for your cards?0 -
Whenever I've withdrawn cash on my credit card (Egg Money from a +ve balance
), I've been presented with a "warning, your card issuer may make a charge for this withdrawal" message on screen.
OP, didn't you see such a message?0
