PPI claim with no details

Hi.

Approx. 10 years ago I got into some financial difficulty and my bank at the time (HSBC) suggested that I repaid my overdraft with a loan. They recommended that I have PPI on my load should I have any difficulty in repaying it back due to being out of work etc. I was young and naive, and took any advice as good advice so I took out the policy. They knew that I would struggle to pay back the loan let alone the added cost of PPI. Anyway, I unfortunately destroyed all the documentation after the loan was finally paid off, thanks to my friends and family, therefore I have no details of my policy and would like to make a claim but don't know where to start not having any information.

Am I fighting a losing battle or can I get help with a claim?

Thanks

When did you pay it off? If repaid during the past six years its possible HSBC may still hold details about the loan, phone them, or send a SAR to receive whatever info is held about you in their systems.
  • Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately it was more than six years ago however I will contact the customer service department at HSBC to see if they still hold my details.

saying you were "young and naive" makes it sound like you've copied and pasted a template complaint letter. It's not a valid complaint reason.

    Send a SAR and £10.
