Does anyone know anything about Dahlias?. I've got 2 tubers and am about to pot them out. Last year they were very small and twiggy.
Is there anything I need to be aware of to make them have a better year?

Good evening.
your answer could be many things.
How good is the bulbs? soil type? feed? sun or shade?
Keeping those pesky slugs off.
Gardening can be pot luck. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
To make dahlias bushy you need to be a bit brutal with them sometimes. Pinching out the main stem will encourage side growth. Also, if you have a lot of shoots, you need to cut some off - leave a max of 5. You can take cuttings from what you've cut off - they won't be huge this year but will make decent tubers that you'll have decent plants from next year. As well as slugs, watch out for earwigs - they just love dahlias and hide in the folded petals.0
