  • How much rent are you currently paying?
How much do you contribute to the utility bills?
How much do you pay towards for the food shop?

If the answer to all the above questions is zero then there are many people in this country who a would chew their own arm off to be in your current situation.

  • It is difficult to see why your parents would be treating you differently to your brother and sister. All children should be treated exactly equally.

Having said that, it is their money to do with as they decide and if they have decided to be unfair and treat their children differently, then do you wish to be living with people like that anyway?

At 40, it is way past time you moved out and personally I wouldn't want to stay with parents who were treating us all unequally anyway.

When I was "moving out age" (ie early 20s) I decided it wasn't going to make a lot of odds to me to pay rent to a landlord, as I was having to pay rather a lot more than additional costs of one extra person to my parents for board and lodge anyway. I decided that was unfair (well it was....) and so moved out. That way, I ended up paying a little extra to what I paid my parents, but at least I wasn't being treated unfairly any longer and could stop "simmering" about it and had the freedom to do what I wanted in return for that little bit extra.

You sound incredibly entitled. Your parents don't owe you anything. To be 40 and living with your parents. Where are your savings surely by now you should have something to get you on the ladder yourself, even on minimum wage you just have to tighten your belt more.

I wouldn't help my children financially if they weren't willing to help themselves either.
