car warranty with customer protect-HELP

Hi we purchased a 2nd hand car in october 2013 from a dealer near mansfield notts. We purchased a years warranty with the car as we never have much look with cars. The car has just developed a fault. We have just rang Customer Protect in Harlow (which we where told to do by the dealer, when we purchased the car) who have told us that the dealer is no-longer trading and as the agreement is with the company who sold the vechile and agreement, the warranty is void.

So we are stuffed. Rang the company who are in the dealers premises at the moment and funnily enough is a car dealer also and was fobbed off saying it was a different company and nothing to do with them. Where do we stand. Any help needed. Thanks in advance

If you know the name of the company you bought from, you can check whether it is still trading at the companies house website.

But it sounds like you've been sold a pup. Quite a few of these companies have no assets and just get would up on a cycling basis.
  • Wouldn't matter if they were still trading, the unwarranty company would check down their unlimited list of excuses for the next reason not to pay out.

All these aftermarket warranties are any use for is spare bog roll.
