Copyright-free music downloads

I am a youth worker and am editing a video for the local youth club of their recent trip into the wilderness of Scotland. I am hoping to put the video to music but need either copyright-free music or copyright owner's permission to reproduce copies for distribution to the young people (the local council organised this so there is no chance of bending the rules). Getting permission is not so practical as I only have a few days to organise this.

Would anyone know where I can get such a thing as copyright-free music? Are there any websites? I am struggling with google as I am just getting too much back to sift through. It looks though like classical music may be the answer as it is out of copyright (although the performances may not be). Not sure if the youngster's will appreciate this as much as some heavy dance music but it may be my only option. Again the problem is where to find it.

Can anyone help?

Do any of them play in bands etc? You could get them to record some of their music or use theirs with permission. What about other local bands etc., they'd probably be pleased to have their music used. You can get out of copyright stuff - why not ring your nearest college with a practical media course? They might have stuff you can use.

On a quick internet search this site came up, you have to pay, it depends on your budget. Can't you get one of the youth club members to find some on the internet, they'll probably find it no problem!!

Thanks for the suggestions. As I said there are only a few days to prepare so a quick solution is required. Freeplaymusic looks particularly promising - thanks Onzey!
