Cleaning Nigella Lawson storage jars

I just got an absolute bargain at a car boot sale. I paid £1 in total for 2 small and 1 large duck egg blue storage jars plus a salt pig. They don't look like they have actually been used but do have some scuff marks that may have come from the kilner type metal fasteners. They can be positioned so they don't show but I would like to have a go at cleaning them. Is there anything better than soap and water?

[STRIKE]Snort[/STRIKE] Blow some white powder on the scuff marks. Rub with a dry finger. If it doesn't work dampen the finger by rubbing it on your teeth and gums.
Apparently baking powder is a good scourer.0 -

Apparently baking powder is a good scourer.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
The magic erasers that you can get from Wilkos (and other places ) can be good for stuff like this. They're really useful to have around anyway, they're great for getting scuff marks off walls and brilliant for cleaning white PVC windows.0

Thanks all. I have managed to get them looking like new by using a magic eraser so I am very pleased. I can't believe they were only £1!0
