Yes - I hate comps with silly end dates! I've seen a few comps to win things like Halloween costumes when the end date is November or Christmassy prizes when the end date is February (yes I have seen some!) Very annoying!

Mind you, I did see something on the news the other day about scientists in the Netherlands achieving teleportation!?:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
I wonder if perhaps they didn't get enough people paying to go, as they gave away tickets on twitter a couple of days ago too. There are people who can and will do things at short notice (and if I'm entering a comp I consider when the event is and when the end date is, as to if it's worth entering) - I actually got a pair of tickets from the twitter link. Actually 100s of people could have got in with it as there was no email confirmation just the booked screen with no personal details on. It said you'd give your details to issue the ticket there, but when I got there, by the entrance before joining the ticket queue I was given the pair of tickets in exchange for the anonymous print-out of the confirmation page! (I was actually given the 2 tickets, but as there's 1 of me I donated the other to someone about to buy a ticket!)0

Don't think it's a badly run comp at all, they haven't sold many tickets are are allocating tickets out to companies for competitions. Just so happens I'm in London this weekend, otherwise I wouldn't be applying. No point if you don't live there and can't get there easily.0

Personally I wouldn't bother entering unless I lived local but even if someone knows the end date of the comp/day of event/lives local it does seem stupidly short notice as even if someone can attend an event at short notice they may have to arrange with someone to go with them or whatever other things they need to organise. A lot of ticket comps always seem to have short notice though annoyingly.0

no idea
just curious as to why you would enter a comp when i'm presuming the dates were specified and then complain about it being too short notice
That's not really the point though is it, if you're going to offer a contest to win tickets you should have the decency to give some time for people to make preparations.
I know with some places they do it so you can't sell the tickets on, as in you've not got enough time to, but I don't see why they'd do it for this type of event.0 -

.
Rubbish.
You don't enter for what you can't get to, especially as it was a 3 day event. The promotor offered the tickets, they don't care if you can't make it.
If you can't make any day, don't enter. It's not rocket science.0 -
The promoter should make it loud and clear that the event is so soon after the results are announced, instead of hiding it in the T&C's.
That's not rocket science either, but then they wouldn't get all the entries and free advertising and/or money from us clicking the link.0 -
T&Cs are there to read - especially for comps , it's why so many of them get posted alongside the initial post in the competitions.
The OP was also 'far from london' - what's the point of entering
it's like me entering a comp where i have to collect a prize from wales
Also whinged about drawing on the same day, i won tickets to a gig the same day , i didn't post and whinge about it0 -
That's you, this is her. I'm sure she had thought ANY REASONABLE promoter would offer her at least a week to get plans in order - to enable her to travel to London.
I certainly would think that, although I do read the T&C's each time because I now know how silly the T&C's can be sometimes. It's just silly to offer tickets to an event that's already started0
