Saturday/Sunday 31st May/ 1st June - What small DFW things will you do this weekend?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:
Morning & happy weekend to you all :A
katy I hope you are feeling better now x
DFW things for this weekend:
* checked banking - no change
* ordered sanding sheets off of ebay
* did a search for airvent/louvre and found the size I want at screwfix for £1.70 :T
* pack up for festival :T
* have made/packed up: cheese jacks, potato, onion & cheese pastys, couple of slices of Tiffin/fridge cake each, ditto lemon drizzle cake, mini brussetta style pizzas, cider, water, crisps
* will also make some bacon baggettes for lunch
* will limit myself to £30 including £10 petrol. Hope to come in under this but need to get a bottle of something soft as I will be driving tomorrow, a decent coffee in the morning & 1 meal/food item
* read some house renovation blogs for inspiration & motivation. Seems to have worked!
* get something out of freezer to make dinner tomorrow, probably thai curry sauce & coconut milk. Then can just grab some prawns to make a speedy curry
* possibly do an hours work on job application. Depends if I can be bothered/what time oh gets up & we decide to hit the road
* get petrol at the cheapest station on way through town
* do usual car checks/take anything not needed out of the car
Think that's all I'll do in way of small things! x

What a good weekend, my mood is definitely connected to the weather!
Yesterday my two pairs of prescription sunglasses from glasses direct arrived, I used the offer on the MSE e-mail last week. They are fantastic and for the bargain price of £25 for both including delivery
My car needed the brake pads changing - not very MSE, but I can't remember ever putting my car in for repairs and not over worrying about the cost. Obviously, I could do without it, but I know I will manage this month. This comes down to my new MSE attitude and managing my money better. So this deserves to go on my list!
Picked up some new sandals for under £10 - I've been looking for a couple of weeks and I'm happy with my compromise of cheap style. Others I've spotted that I actually like have been closer to the £40 mark.
Hair appointment was cancelled by hairdresser, so that has saved me £20 this weekend.
Got up early this morning, I couldn't stay in bed with the glorious sunshine streaming through the window. Had some lovely alone time with a brew, a bit of telly and wrote out my shopping list. Trip to @ldi later with the list.
We're all going for a walk once we're ready before lunch, then DH has some diying to do and we're going to FIL's for a BBQ later. So should be a lovely, relaxed and low spend day.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend?SPC # 348 2014-£169.07/2015 - £156.89

Lovely day here. Just a quick one from me as its mostly been garden-related money saving today:
*Tied in & side-shooted tomato plants.
*Dug over 2 beds & planted out 6 courgette & 6 squash plants.
*Put a 99p Shop mini polytunnel together & planted out 2 dozen baby beetroot plants.
*Planted out a row of ruby chard.
*Opened another compost bin so I could use it as I went along rather than the bought stuff.
*First cut of the comfrey to make free comfrey plant food.
*Lots of free fitness doing all of the above, plus cutting back a big shrub.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & breakfast.
*Read meters & update energy-use spreadsheet.
*Load washer & put on timer for cheap overnight wash.
*Knit
*Sit on bum in sunny deckchair reading library book.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Helllooooooo :wave: Beautiful day here in the South :T We've just got back from the festival, was great and a really budget short holiday! I spent £12.50 on petrol, £6 on a curry & £2.50 on a coffee this morning. So £51 in total for the whole festival :T taking nice food & drinks is definitely the way to go!
Very small things:
* having a coffee & a slice of cake after the drive
* put away the tent & other bits ready for the next festival in a couple of weeks
* get washing in (hung it on the line before we went yesterday
* vacuum
* finish job application. Gonna start at 6
* share bath water
* read book in bath :T maybe with a cheeky glass of wine
* repot some plants
* put clothes away/in washing basket
* something out of the freezer to defrost in the fridge
So am having a conversation with oh about my very near future. I am feeling a lot better after having some time off and away from work, so have got my head together. Now I am starting to think the best thing is for me to take some time and think about what I want to do. I was quite unhappy working where I am at times and was doing ridiculous overtime. I got well paid but don't think it was worth the sacrifice.
I am thinking I'm going to take some time and re-evaluate where I want to go career wise. Do I want to stay in my field or do something else? If it's something else do I need to retrain? I can afford to be out of work for a few months. I've applied to host foreign students & can ebay. Think if it comes to it I can sign up with agencies while working out what my next steps are.
Feel so much better having decided what to do! Oh is less enthusiastic about it than me! :rotfl:DF as at 30/12/16
