NPower - are these people for real?

Thankfully I'm not with NPower (with EDF) but my son is. He's been with them for over two years, since he left home, and it's been a total nightmare. I won't go into details, apart from the latest debacle. When he returned home after a a couple of weeks away there were three NPower letters waiting for him:
1) Helping you out when you're moving house (he's not moving)
2) Your payment scheme is cancelled
3) Final bill. Even though he's been paying £32/month DD, which is probably far more than he uses in his one bedroom flat, they've come up with an estimated final reading which amounts to a 36 kwh / day usage backdated to last December. So according to them he now owes over £800 and they are about to take it from his bank account.
It's just laughable, it really is! What sort of house uses 36 kwh per day !!!!!!! And, why do they suddenly think he's moving and so cancel his payment arrangements. And of course, letter 2 came with the usual threats of credit reference agency bad debts and the like.
You really do despair with this BUM organisation.

It looks like an other supplier has contacted npower to tell them that a switch has been started, this sometimes happens by mistake, wrong numbers etc!
£32 per month does seem a little below normal? Does he keep up to date with his meter readings to his account?
He can go online and give them actuals, and also speak to them to tell them he is not switching.
But he has been with them 2 years and has not switched found better deal??????The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -
Why has your son continued to stay with them for 2 years if they are so shoddy? I thought anyone with a bit of nouce had shuffled off from NPOWER long sinceThe opposite of what you know...is also true0

So, the lad checks his bank today, and £800+ is not going out on Monday, but £4.87 is!
You could not make it up!
I can only assume the plonkers have been round to read the meter and adjusted the bank take accordingly, but then, maybe not. Knowing NPower it'll be something else completely, and I guess they still think he's moving, so he can look forward to an hour on hold on Monday, before trying to explain to the morons what's actually happening (and then they'll completely ignore what he tells them).
As for changing to another supplier - when Npower is on one end of the chain I think it's maybe a case a better the devil - and I really mean DEVIL - you know.0 -

Hello Carmel, no need. He sorted it. Someone in the same block was moving and somehow the wrong address number was used. Also, the meter reader came round, so as noted, only about £5 went out, and he's happy now because the debt is cleared. Just waiting now for the DD to be set up again. They said they would take a few days.
Thanks anyway.0
