hello.

i know i am bout 20years behind the times, and there are better forums out there to post this question, but hey!! i like MSE and i have just had a sudden urge to play games from my youth :o

simple questions really.

1) if i buy a PS2 can anyone confirm if that old classic FF7 can be played on it? going back to when the PS2 1st came out i can vaugely remember some talk of the "save game" having an issue with the memory card. (i dont suppose they ever released FF7 for the PS2?)

2) the GTA games. i loved GTA3 and Vice City, never played San andreas. having just done a quick search i see "liberty city stories" and "vice city stories". i know these were initially PSP games (wow, maybe im not such an old duffer) but are these PS2 versions games in their own right? as in new missions and gameplay etc or just rehashed GTA3 and Vice City?

i will give you lovely MSE'rs 1st shout at answering my Q's before i move along to some horrible techie board where i will be laughed at and frowned upon for not wanting to spend loads on "the latest gear".

i would like a PS3 or X360, but i just wouldnt be able to buy the games at their silly prices, whereas the PS2 has a massive (cheap) supply of games available. :)

thanks in advance.

pfpf.

you've just reminded me of a problem i'm having!! My in-laws have bought a load of PS1 games for my little one to play on my PS2, only thing is i keep playing them! Toy Story, Power Rangers etc.

I have put hours of work into the games, but when i try to save to the PS2 memory card the ps1 game does not recognise it. I think i may buy a ps1 memory card and see if it will save to that.

you can save your games with some PS1 memory cards inserted into your PS2, you can't use a PS2 memory card to save PS1 games.

hi gta liberty city stories, and vice city stories are based around gta liberty city and vice city, the map is pretty much the same but there are differences, and the missions are different, the psp and ps2 versions are the same.
the games are pretty cheap to buy wouldnt cost much 2nd hand, best series of games ive played.
    Waddle you do eh?

Yes you can play old ps1 games on ps2.
I have saved ps1 games onto my ps2 memory card.
libetry city stories and vice city stories can both be bought for the ps2 although they were little more than expansion packs for the original games, but released on the psp.

Yes you can play FF7 on your PS2 but to save you will need to use a PS1 memory card. You cannot save game files from a PS1 game on a PS2 memory card and vice versa.

On the GTA issue. If i were you i would get San Andreas rather than Liberty City stories or Vice City Stories as these are more expansion packs than games (as stated) there is also some issues with the graphics lag (not that bad really) I wasnt too impressed with Liberty City Stories compared to GTA3 Vice City & San Andreas.

San Andreas is a massive game and there is loads to do and you can pick it up for about a fiver which is a total bargain. If you liked GTA3 & Vice City then get San Andreas first and then move onto Liberty City & Vice City Stories.
