Why is it that loads of people voted UKIP to get us out of Europe, but keep talking about the EU 2 year rule? You cant have it both ways!

    What a brainless comment.

I've tried putting it in a bag of rice a couple of times but it doesn't seem to help that much. Perhaps I'll try again this weekend.

It doesn't sound like you've given it anywhere near enough time in the rice, it should be sealed in the bag for several days, preferably somewhere warm like an airing cupboard.

If it only got wet last weekend and has been in the rice a couple of times and used once since it hasn't been given chance to dry out.

I once had to leave a usb pen that got wet for 5 days in rice before it would work again, something like a phone or GPS should get a minimum of a week.

Even if the rice manages to dry the unit out it's almost certain that the same thing is going to happen again.
The only way that the rice could absorb any moisture that is currently inside the satnav would be if one of the seals was faulty and if the moisture can be drawn out, moisture can easily get back in.

As the moisture has already started affecting some of the functions, I think that unless you can find an independant expert who will examine the unit for you and who decides that the fault is due to dodgy manufacture then paying the £74 for a replacement will be your only option.

Bear in mind that even if you get a report in your favour, the retailer may well offer you a refund and this can be a partial refund to cover the 18 months use you have already had from the unit.
