selling on Amazon help

I'm trying to work out whether there is any reason that I can't buy books and Amazon and resell them on Amazon marketplace? I've bought all of the available stock of a particular product so am I allowed to resell them at a higher price? Any help is appreciated from a clueless start-up!

Go for it - but if Amazon think there's a demand, they may stock it again and undercut you. They have already taken a slice of the sale first time round and will be quote happy to take a second slice of the sale though, especially as they don't even need to hold inventory

    I guess by this statement
... I've bought all of the available stock of a particular product ...

The book in question is out of print. ;)

OP - yes you can offer books for sale at any price you want - whether anyone will pay it is a different matter, but rare, out of print books, in demand do fetch good prices on both amazon & ebay.

Maybe try an ebay auction style listing first and see what demand and price level punters are prepared to pay if you don't see any other similar books sold recently.
(If you have seen them sold recently - then you already know you have competition)

Be aware, that whilst you may have bought the remaining stock from the publisher (which suggests it possibly isn't in that great a demand) if there genuinely is demand and does sell well, others probably have a copy or two stashed away somewhere and will possibly offer theirs in competition to you.

Yes, I mean if there turns out to be an actual demand, reprints could probably be arranged easily enough, so the monopoly position may not last that long if the margins are right.
