NHS Fixed Term Contract Redundancy

I currently work for a big NHS organisation in London, it is for a 1 year Fixed Term Contract which is due to end at the end of this month. I have been told that it would not be extended.
But I have previous 5 years experience in the NHS with another Big London NHS Trust. It is a continous service which means not more than 1 week break in employment.
Am I entitled to a Redundancy claim and also is the end of a FTC classified as redundancy. The reason my manager gave me for not extending the contract was they have ran out of funds.
Although my manager did tell me 2 months ago that they were likely to extend it .Now I am frantically having to look for a new job as I have a mortgage to pay.
All advise will be greatly appreciated..

Hi, I am also in NHS and facing redundancy. I think fixed term contracts do not count as redundancy unless they have been for over two years. Sorry, not the answer you were hoping for.0

Thanks Heather, but I was reading it in the NHS Terms and Conditions section 16 that when you have continous service from a previous trust then it counts towards the years of service. A continous service meaning not more than a week break.
Please google and read section 16.4 of the
NHS Terms and Conditions of Service Handbook
sorry can't post links0 -

It says 6 weeks but the contract that I was sent was for permanent staffs.0

Remind them they need to make you redundant unless you find another NHS service compatible job.0

If you have continuous NHS service then you are entitled to redundancy for the entirety of that service - ie for 6 years service which is the equivalent of 6 months pay0
